Hogfather

When developing this cover concept for an alternate version of Hogfather by Terry Pratchett, I wanted to capture the main premise of the novel as a whole, which revolves around the character of Death posing as the missing-in-action Hogfather (the Discworld's equivalent of Santa Claus). There was one scene in particular that immediately came to mind in contrasting Death and the merriment of the holiday (please read the book if you haven't!). The girl's expression rounds out the comedic nature of the narrative that ensues.
